Thinking about the second-worst President yesterday (Richard Nixon–goes without saying that Trump is the worst!)) and I was reminded of a story the late Judge Ewing T. Kerr once told me. Kerr was Republican state chairman back in the 1950s and he told me about Nixon visiting Cheyenne during his vice-presidency. Kerr said Nixon stayed in the Plains Hotel in the room featuring some of the Kohler company’s first color bathroom fixtures. Nixon invited Kerr and several others to come up to his top-floor room for a drink. “Would you bring up a bottle and four glasses?” he asked. Kerr said someone replied, “why don’t you join us downstairs at the bar?” The vice president responded, “Oh, no! I don’t want anybody to see me drinking alcohol in public!”
Phil, I think you’re forgetting Wayne G. Harding. Is having sex with a fourteen-year-old girl in the Whitehouse closet bad? Have you ever read his speeches? I don’t think he ever had a real idea. I think he deserves the number two slot. I am sure his train took him through Wyoming on his “Voyage of Understanding,” What brothels did he visit? Wasn’t prostitution legal in Wyoming back then? Your Friend, Ed
Ed,
We don’t know, but we do know that he had Nan Brittain in a White House room (Maybe on the train?)
